This later was increased to 4 levels with an audience capacity of 799. In 1910 Gerald du Maurier began a 15 year association with the theatre, both as an actor and manager, and screen actress Tallulah Bankhead made her stage debut. Many years later, in the 1960’s and 70’s the Theatre continued to attract such stars as Vanessa Redgrave, Alec Guiness and Diana Rigg. In May 2005 the theatre was taken over by Delfont-Mackintosh Ltd. and it continues to operate. Actor and Manager Charles Wyndham opened a group of 3 Theatres in central London in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s these were the Criterion Theatre at Piccadilly Circus (lessee from 1875) Wyndham’s Theatre in Charing Cross Road (opened 1899) and, The New Theatre in St Martins Lane (behind Wyndham’s), which opened in 1903. Charles Wyndham was knighted in 1902 and married Mary Moore in 1916. She was his leading actress from 1885 and partner in the ownership of the Criterion, Wyndham’s and New Theatres from the early 1900’s Free postage to any address within the UK Please note that programmes will be sent using "Royal Mail – 2nd Class” service. Print quality varies and there may also be some small creases, thumbed corners and minor tears along the edges of the pages and, particularly, the covers. Some programmes have poorly and unevenly cut edges to the covers and inner pages. If metal staples were used they may have rusted, partially or completely, leaving rust stains and some, or all, of the pages unstapled. In some instances, the crease along the seam (fold) of the cover pages may have split resulting in the covers separating.Depending on the extent of the various imperfections, and the programmes age, we grade it as being “Very Good, Good, Moderate, Poor or Very Poor” and, if we consider it relevant, we will specify significant damage. The grading and comments are our own opinion and are not any form of “warranty”. Please study the photos closely before bidding for, or purchasing, any programme
