Description: This is for 1 set of Reproduction WWI ERA Enlisted P1912 Dress Uniform Collar Disk pair, variation 2 This is an excellent set of REPRODUCTION enlisted US. Marine Corps items. This is for 1 set of Collar Disks. These would have been eventually worn on the Enlisted P1912 Dress Blue Uniform. The Gilt disks would been adopted late in the war . When Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Franklin D. Roosevelt visited France in 1918, he authorized Marine enlisted men to wear discs depicting the Eagle, Globe and Anchor(EGA). These collar insignia were prescribed for enlisted uniforms on 5 August 1918 when Brig. GEN. W.C. Neville, USMC, authorized the 4th Brigade to procure 1" round discs to distinguish Marines from other services. The only difference in the Marine's disc was the addition of the EGA, as opposed to the Army's "U.S." and unit or rate designation. Some replacments had them and some may have been private purchase. These initial disks were bronze for the service collar. A short production run of gilt devices was made for dress collars. Only Marines serving in France and Germany wore these during the remainder of 1918 and 1919. We have both Variations of USMC Disks, see our other items. These items are a perfect replica down to the brass screw back. When you buy this pair of disks be assured you will receive a great item. I send these out in padded envelopes with priority mail. Insurance can be added upon request. I always combine shipping on multiple items. For all our latest news, remember to like Repros by Ray on facebook!
