Description: Very unusual flag looks to be Hungarian however on the bolster I see Japanese kanji writing or possibly Chinese. The fabric is cotton and the bolster appears to be silk where the writing is, the white does not fluoresce so its probably ww2 or earlier but I can only guess why the flag would have Japanese or Chinese on it. I have shown it to various people and its seems unique , perhaps a consulate flag in Japan or China during the war or used on a ship interacting with the Hungarian Navy or intended to keep axis ships from firing upon it. Never saw anything else like it, might have been a Hungarian ship that had a repair for the bolster done in the far east. Total mystery. Measures approximately 68 inches by 46 inches. Please see photos to assess condition for yourself. I can not answer questions about this flag I just don't know anything else, I bought it many years ago and I don't remember whom I got it from.
