For Wake Forest fans, the incredible surreal night that followed was a long time in coming and represented Wake’s first visit to one of the highly esteemed “New Year’s Day” bowl games. The autographs, which were collected in 2007 at the annual Spring (practice) Game on the Wake Forest campus, feature some of the most prominent coaches and players who were on the Wake Forest roster for the magical 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference championship season and include: Aaron Curry (number 59), who would go on to win the Butkus Award as the nation’s premier linebacker the following season and was then chosen in the first round by the Seattle Seahawks (the 4th pick overall, he's now in the Wake Forest Hall of Fame); Kicker Sam Swank (number 38, now in the Wake Forest Hall of Fame), the MVP in in Wake’s 9-6 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the 2006 ACC Championship Game; Head Coach Jim Grobe, the 2006 Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year; Offensive Coordinator Steed Lebotzke, the Master Football Coaches (MFC) Nike Offensive Coordinator of the Week following Wake Forest’s 30-0 demolishing of Florida State in Tallahassee during that 2006 season; Defensive End Shaunteris “Boo” Robinson (number 96), 2009 Outland Trophy Watch List member; Center Steve Justice (number 74), a member of the 2007 Associated Press All America team (he's now in the Wake Forest Hall of Fame); Wide Receiver Kenny Moore (number 21), 2007 All ACC First Team; and Defensive Back Alphonso Smith (number 2), a first-team Freshman All-America on the College Football News, ESPN and Scout.com teams and the 2009 second round pick of the Denver Broncos (he's getting inducted into the Wake Forest Hall of Fame with the 2021-2022 inductee class).
