Description: For your consideration is this beautiful example of handcrafted jewelry by Garne, a NYC company, made sometime from 1945 to the late 1960s. Their work is hard to find. This colorful gold tone brooch is not signed. The card stock that this brooch was originally attached to for sale (I found an example elsewhere) identified it as Garne and indicated that it was handcrafted. The centerpiece of this stylish brooch is a prong-set multifaceted yellow/tan pear shaped glass stone, about 1" long. Because its back is open and the stone back is also faceted, its color will appear to change, depending on the surface it's laying on. It is immediately surrounded by 16 prong-set faceted yellow glass rhinestones. Seventeen larger faceted glass multicolored rhinestones prong set within finely textured heart shapes form its outer edge. This is impressive, approximately 2 3/8" long and 1 7/8" at its widest point. No damage was found. If you so choose, you could weave a chain through one of the hearts and wear it as a pendant! It will make a grand present for that special someone - including you!
