Vintage Tiffany Style Table Lamp Drophead Gragonfly Monumental Stained Glass

Description: This beautiful and monumental - 26 inches high and 18 inches in diameter - stained glass mosaic table lamp featuring the red bodied dragonflies, - is hand assembled from around 1,000 pieces of irregular shaped stained glass pieces and glass pebbles of round and oval shapes. The stained glass pieces and pebbles forming this lamp form a rich palette consisting of turquoise blue, radiant cobalt blue, various shades of green, amber, brown and red colours, that look beautiful but absolutely come to life in totally fascinating colours when illuminated by the 4 bulbs - 2 in the shade and 2 inside of the stand. Uses the original technique of stained glass making where the irregular pieces of stained glass of desired colour are assembled in a pattern to represent needed design element and are held together with narrow strips of lead (lead came), that are melted to make sure they secure the stained glass pieces in place. The production of the stained glass mosaic is very laborious, requires extremely high professionalism in handling the used materials and is totally hand made. The overall design and features of this lamp clearly get inspiration from the original Dragonfly table lamp produced by Louis Comfort Tiffany Studios in the 1910s-1920s. On a slighly smaller scale - the original lamp had a 22-inch shade while this one has “only” 18 inches. The other major difference is that the original lamp had a long 4-legged art-deco styled brass stand, whilst this lamp features pear shaped stained glass mosaic stand standing on four-legged bronze base, similar in design pattern to the shade, that’s also beautifully illuminated from inside. Thirdly, original lamp colour palette was limited to a warm palette of greens, yellows and reds whilst this lamp features a much wider and richer colour palette. Art Deco and Art Nouveau are probably my most favourite styles in applicable arts, and I recognise and greatly appreciate Louis Comfort Tiffany’s creative genius and how it helped shape these styles and influence American and global aesthetics as well as the rich legacy of the works of Tiffany Studios as well as with the sheer breadth of creative directions and materials used. I think I was extremely lucky when I acquired this table lamp together with another one - Butterfly (check it out in my active listings) in 1999 from the USA and enjoyed them ever since. The table lamp comes in mint condition, with no visible damage or wear. I did replace the plug for the retro European style to be able to use them, it is sold fitted with the European plug.
