Description: Item Description: ROY ROGERS (Blue Band) METAL LUNCHBOX AND METAL/GLASS THERMOS from American Thermos 1954. This extremely rare R-7 lunchkit is the second of many AT kits featuring Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Shares the same front panel as the first kit (from 1953) and has Roy up on his trusty Palomino “Trigger” with Dale waving her hat and hand welcoming all to their Double R Bar Ranch along with their German Shepard companion “Bullet”. The back panel came in two varieties - one with only the RR brand framed by rope in the center. The other had that symbol in the upper left and a "My Brand” framed by rope in the lower right - where young buyers could also purchase branding stickers to apply to this area. This one is the latter and includes one of these branding stickers placed by a previous proud school cowboy. Also shares the same thermos as the first RR kit with Roy, Dale, Trigger and Bullet posing and wood grain back. The Roy Rogers kits began the competition between Aladdin and Thermos for lunch box supremacy – and therefore represent an important piece for the collector. This box came in both a blue band and a red one with the various brands of the RR Ranch. This one is the latter. Represents the first of the RR and DE kits designed by Ed Wexler – staff illustrator for American Can Company – who designed most of American Thermos’s kits from 1953-1964. A classic western Americana collectible – and key kit for the lunchbox collector! Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including original wire thermos holder). Lithographed box panels on front and back are clean and glossy throughout - with a few light scratches and rubbings. Very light rim wear on front - a bit heavier on back - with no corner dents or dimples. Inside of box is also very clean with no prior owner markings – in overall Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos lithos are clean throughout with no dents or dimples, no rattles when shaken with nice shiny bottom – in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition.
