From the book "The Moral of Flowers", 1833 (engravings by William Clark, "formerly draughts-man and engraver to the London Horticultural Society", words and poetry by Rebecca Hey). An illustration from an early 19th century book - a lovely example from the time when interests in botany, science and natural history in general came beautifully together with poetry, literature and visual arts, expressing the newly realised resonance with the emotional and physical sides of human nature. The book was very popular in its time, with each gorgeous plant image accompanied by selected lines from acclaimed poets about each flower and Rebecca Hey's own original prose and poetry: "...Tis that though suffering ill, Yea, spurned and trodden by each passer by, Blossom and berry dost thou proffer still, As all unmindful of the injury..." ★ Reproduced from an antique book illustration, respectfully and lovingly restored and enhanced digitally, to remove the non-artistic blemishes and colour fading. ★ A3 print, 297mm x 420mm. (Interior images are shown for styling and illustrative purposes only, not to be used as a precise scale guide. There will be no watermarks on the actual print.) ★ Printed in England on a 350gsm Eucalyptus paper, made from eucalyptus pulp from sustainable sources. It is brilliant white and smooth and Eco printed with high pigment environmentally-friendly toners. ★ Supplied unframed, carefully rolled and packed with tissue paper in a strong cardboard tube for safe transit.
