Description: You are buying an A4 modern print of the original pattern, not the finished item. This super 1930s vintage pattern is for a lady's crochet lace style Jumper with bands of what look like shells or flower heads in the wind! The first four bands in turn are decorated with a single bow for a truly vintage feminine design. When completed, the "Beatrice" jumper will fit a 36 inch bust and is definitely a conversation starter!! The jumper was originally crocheted in 'Beehive Wool String' which according to a newspaper dated the 12th February 1936 had "..the look of string but the feel of wool"!! This Wool String was a Botany wool from Merino Sheep and I cannot find out much else about it. But going by the hook used and tension, I think it maybe a 3-ply. However, you may wish to try this pattern in a modern 4-ply as vintage yarns were 'heavier' than their modern counterparts, but as always work a tension square first to see if a change of needles or in this case ply is needed. This is what I love about vintage patterns the hunt to find a modern equivalent!, which is never impossible, just fun!
