Description: Whether you collect antique trading cards for scrapbooking or for your enjoyment, you are sure to find one to your liking here! This listing is for various antique trading cards and below is a description for each, as well as a description of the item condition. These are all authentic originals and not reprints. A - This card depicts a little boy in a blue cape with a hood. There's also a bat and it says "Pluto". Unsuccessful about finding much out about who the card is about or the brand that released it. Minor tear at on the part that says Pluto. Measures approximately 4" x 3". B - Horsfords Acid Phosphate "for mental + physical exhaustion, dysepsia". Says Rumford Chemical Works near the bottom, a historical chemical plant based in Rhode Island. Established in 1857. Most well known for their dedication to making baking powder. No notable flaws. Approximately 5" x 3". C - Trading card for "The Richmond Straight Cut No. 1 and Pet Cigarettes Gold Leaf Tobacco" by Allen and Ginter manufacturing. Founded in 1880 and based in Richmond Virginia. No major notable flaws. Unable to find any like this card, which depicts a little girl in a large pink coat, sitting in on a stool. It has a faded look to it, unsure if its from over time or if it was made to look that way. Back paragraph has some minor fading on the bottom portion as well. D - Warners Safe Yeast Cure. Has a legible description on the back. A woman shares a story about having her first child and suffering from convulsions and head pain after. She also speaks on the pain in her kidneys while pregnant with her second child and how Warners Yeast Pills essentially saved her! Interesting read because some of the terms are outdated and have changed such as "Brights Disease" which is an old term for kidney inflammation. Approximately 3" x 5". E - Knapps Root Beer Extract advertisement. This one is interesting because it has a small poem on either side. There are some pieces that have been cut out and there is also a small rip at the top part. All flaws are visible in the provided photos. 5" x 3" F - This advertisement card is for a Hoods Sarsaparilla, a popular pharmaceutical from the 19th and 20th centuries. It was used to treat a number of ailments such as heart disease and edema. This specific card talks about "Catarrh" which means "A build up of mucus in your airways". Back has minor fading and some of words aren't easily legible. Approximately 5" x 3". G - Tarrants Seltzer Aperient, an indigestion medicine. Depicts a little girl sitting in a basket. I've seen a few reprints of this one, usually on post cards. So, this is a popular advertisement. Some minor staining on the back, but everything is legible and no rips or tears. Approximately 5" x 3". H - Prof. Horsfords phosphatic. In 1854 Prof Horsfords invented the first double acting baking soda. Has a little baby sitting on a bed, reading a book about almanac and cooking. Approximately 5" x 3". Card is in pristine condition. This card in specific was distributed by a drug store in Wisconsin in the year of 1905. It is stamped on the back with the stores name. I - Personal physicians ad card distributed by an Alameda pharmacy. Can't find anything like this since it was given out by a specific drugstore. However, the card and its design are similar to a thank you card, so there are others with the same design but a different description on the back or completely blank. Approximately 3" x 4.5". J - "Gross Cereal Extract Oats & Barley" the brain and nerve tonic. A mixture of herbs used to support the central nervous center. The front has a floral design and a house that's next to a river. The back of the card is in poor condition. Nothing is legible. K - Tarrant's Seltzer Aperient. Depicts a baby in a laundry hamper with roses and greenery around it. The seltzer was known for relieving headache, indigestion, constipation, and dyspepsia. They also claimed to be superior to the "German Seltzer Spa Water" which was said to go stale and flat when shipped across the Atlantic. This card was given out by a specific drug store located in Ludlowville, NY. Back is in decent legible condition. L - Lydia E. Pinkhams Vegetable Compound trading card. This card was distributed by a drugstore in Ludlowville, NY. Between the years 1873-1906 this vegetable compound was bought over the counter by countless women. Especially women that didn't feel comfortable meeting with male doctors, since this specific product was meant to specifically treat various women's ailments. The compound was made up of numerous natural herbs such as unicorn root, fenugreek seed, and black cohosh. Front of card has a floral design. Back is in great condition, has minor yellowing / browning. Approximately 4" x 3". M - Burdock Blood Bitters. An antique over the counter tonic used to treat different ailments such as upset stomach, kidney issues, liver issues, and bowel regulation. Card design itself is quite interesting. The two top corners look to have been cut but it is possible the card came like this. This card was given out at a Rochester NY drugstore. Approximately 6.5" x 5".
