They favored large sized pocket watches from top makers such as Vacheron & Constantin with classic and elegant Roman Numeral dials and gold-colored hands. Top Swiss Makers such as Vacheron & Constantin and Patek Philippe specially made these hefty pocket watches for the South American Elites with highly accurate movements and made them thick that went against the trend. For this particular watch the 49.5mm 18K Solid Gold Case weighs a very hefty 84.6g in total weight. The Vacheron & Constantin Chronometre Royal was made to compete against Patek Philippe Chronometro Gondolo watches. This watch has 100% original movement, dial, hands, and case. Condition-wise the watch winds, sets, and runs strong but we cannot guarantee timekeeping accuracy or longevity as this is an antique timepiece that has not been serviced. From simple tests this watch seems to keep time well. For any antique watch movement we always recommend for the owner to conduct full service with qualified watchmaker to ensure longevity of the mechanism. Cosmetically there quite a few dents on the case band 3, 5, 8, 9, 10 o’clock positions with the 5 o’clock dent being the most serious. Enamel dial is nearly perfect except for very slight outer perimeter chip at the 3-4 minute mark that cannot be seen with the bezel closed. Rest of the watch is in very good shape that even the caseback barleycorn engine-turning is still highly visible. Diameter is 49.5mm, total weight 84.6g, guaranteed 100% authentic.
