Description: On September 25, 1980, the Postal Service issued a set of 4 15-cent stamps that featured the colorful ceremonial masks created and used by the Native American tribes of the Pacific Northwest. The stamps (Scott 1834 to 1837) show the masks of the Tlingit, Bella Coola, Chilkat Tlingit, and Bella Bella tribes. These 5 covers - 4 individual ones, 1 a block of 4 - are cacheted by Fleetwood in that company's usual artistic and colorful style. Each cover has text on the back that describes each stamp, too. All 5 are canceled with the First Day of Issue cancellation from Spokane, Washington on September 25, 1980. The result is a particularly attractive set of 5 FDCs that would be a great addition to any cover collection. The stamps are attractive, and the cachets are even more so. Check the scan for details.
