So, what is a radio show? They’re special broadcasts made by syndicators like Westwood One, Media America and the Global Satellite Network, and they were sent to radio stations around the world to be broadcast one time only during the designated airdates. Radio shows were sent to radio stations on reel-to-reel tapes in the '60s, then on vinyl records in the '70s, and finally on CDs in the '80s. Starting in the '90s, most syndicators started delivering digitally by satellite and then, ultimately, by file sharing on the internet. These shows often featured famous DJs like Bill Minkin, Redbeard, or George Taylor Morris, and they included live music, interviews with popular artists, unique commercials, and more. And the radio stations who broadcast these shows agreed to destroy the tapes, vinyl, or discs and certify that it had been destroyed in order to continue receiving them. Occasionally, some radio shows would be "liberated" from the syndicator or from radio stations... the exact circumstances are a little vague. And that's what we have here... an actual show that was sent to a radio station for broadcast!! "Class Axe: Guitar Greats A to Z" was a 3-hour, one-time broadcast, spotlighting the best rock guitar players of all time, from all decades!
