Description: This print is from a rare portfolio of high quality photogravure prints dating from 1892. This image depicts six old historic Tacoma Schools: * Central School* Annie Wright Seminary* Lincoln School* Emerson School* Bryant School* Puget Sound University The University of Puget Sound was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1888 in downtown Tacoma. Charles Henry Fowler, who had previously been the president of Northwestern University, dreamed up the idea for the college while in Tacoma for a Methodist conference. Tons of detail in this print, and beautiful tones. This would look wonderful framed. PLEASE NOTE: The page is aged to a cream color. There are stains in the margins and a faint old pencil mark in the bottom right corner (see scan; though the stains show darker in the scan). Still, a very rare, quality photogravure. This incredibly beautiful photogravure is single-sided and on thick paper. The mechanical Photogravure process yields incredibly smooth tones, even when viewed under a magnifying glass. It has a blank back. The page measures approx. 5 x 6.5 inches and the actual image area is about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
