Description: Staffordshire Fitzhugh Soup Plate . The pattern is named for the FitzHugh family, active in the East India Company who brought back from China a porcelain service in the late 18th century. The central medallion in this pattern contains flowers of the 4 seasons: Peony for spring, Lotus for summer, Chrysanthemum for autumn and Prunus for winter. The Four Treasures, or Accomplishments are music, chess, calligraphy and painting. Mark was used from 1780-1800. Approx. 8.5"W. Incised IH to back.
