Description: This listing is for a Spellman Bertan high-voltage power supply, model 2566, used in working condition. Input: 24VDC at 1.5A, Output: 0 to +/-30 kV at up to 0.2 mA. Supports applications requiring a hot-switched reversible output voltage. Outstanding stability (0.02% measured eight hours after warmup) and low ripple (0.1% Vp-p).This is a versatile power supply with both local and remote control plus voltage and current sense outputs. Both the output voltage and current limit are fully adjustable using analog signals ranging from 0 to 10V. Alternatively, when local control is selected, the voltage and current can be adjusted through the potentiometers on the unit. The output polarity can be quickly and safely reversed remotely using the Polarity Control signal on the interface connector. Remote monitoring functionality includes voltage and current monitor test points (0 to 10V).This supply uses a custom pinout configuration through a 15-pin male D-SUB connector mounted to the chassis. Signals are as follows:pin 1 - VOUTPUT Local control (Jumper pin 1 to pin 2)pin 2 - VOUTPUT Remote voltage control input, 0-10VDC maps to 0 - 30 kVpin 3 - IOUTPUT Local Control (Jumper pin 3 to pin 4)pin 4 - IOUTPUT Remote Current control input, 0-10V maps to 0 - 200 uApin 5 - VOUTPUT Voltage monitor output (reads 0-10V as high voltage goes from 0-30 kV)pin 6 - HV polarity control (TTL level) selects positive or negative voltage, or tie to pin 8, main groundpin 7 - Analog ground (use with pins 2, 4, 5, and 13)pin 8 - Main ground (shield, use with digital signals on pins 6 and 12)pin 12 - High voltage enable (TTL level, active low, or tie to pin 8, main ground, to enable)pin 13 - IOUTPUT Current monitor output (reads 0-10 V as HV current goes from 0-200 uA)pin 14 - +10VDC Reference outputpin 15 - Power supply input, 24VDC These supplies can be bench tested using an external 24VDC power supply and two variable 0-10 V analog control signals using the following procedure:Securely connect the high-voltage lead to an HV probe and make sure it is properly grounded to avoid sparking. Maintain at least a 3 inch air gap from any conductive surfaces.(Optional) Connect voltmeters to the voltage monitor 0-10V output (pins 5 and 7) and/or the current monitor 0-10V output (pins 13 and 7).Enable the HV output by tying pin 12 to pin 8 or applying an active-low TTL signal.Set the HV polarity by tying pin 6 to pin 8 or applying a TTL signal.Connect a variable 0-10V voltage across the voltage control input (pins 2 and 7). Set this input to 0V initially for 0 kV.Connect a variable 0-10V voltage across the current control input (pins 4 and 7). Set this input level to 0V initially for 0 uA.Connect the 24V DC supply voltage across pins 15 (power) and 8 (main ground). With 24V power applied, gradually raise the voltage levels across BOTH the voltage control and current control input signals, keeping each input in the range 0-10V. You will see a proportional high-voltage output across the HV probe. The voltages should also rise on the voltage sense (pins 5 and 7, 0-10V) and current sense (pins 13 and 7, 0-10V) outputs. Note that you may need to raise the current limit to achieve the full high voltage level. Note that if the current limiter input is set to 0V you will not see any high-voltage output. Alternately, jumper pin 1 to pin 2, and jumper pin 3 to pin 4, then use the local I/V control potentiometers on the unit to adjust the voltage and current limit locally. Note that you must raise both the voltage level and the current limit to obtain high-voltage output. Please pay careful attention to safety when making electrical connections to this power supply, as potentially lethal voltages may be present during operation. Make sure you are a qualified electronics technician before attempting to use this unit. Remember that 110 volts can be lethal too!We offer a 30-day unconditional refund and return policy.
