Joan Lorence, an exceptional china painter, was a member of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild and the Porcelain Painters Guild. This small leaf shaped dish by the late artist is decorated with beautifully painted oak leaves and acorns. There are three oak leaves and three acorns -- including a range of colors (green, brown, yellow, rust). There are touches of several colors (including blue) in the background (the sky?). This leaf shaped small dish / bowl / plate is approximately 4 3/8" x 3 x 1 1/4". If you collect leaf dishes, hand painted china, china / porcelain painted by American artists, or paintings / original art work of oak leaves and acorns, this would be an exceptional piece for your collection. It is especially significant that it is a fine example of the work of the late Joan Lorence of McLean, Virginia (a suburb of Washington, D.C.). The artist signed the painting.
