Description: This beautiful vintage stylized original painting of a mourning dove couple exudes peace and fidelity. Although the painting is signed "Madden" I have no information on which Madden artist this is, an early Terry Madden, who loved birds, Anne Madden, who has included Doves in her work, or New Zealander, John Madden who also used thick impasto encaustic, or another Madden. I believe this was in a lot of corporate artwork my family purchased in the 1990s at the Eastern Airlines auction but it could possibly have been picked up on my parents' extensive travels. Measuring 26.5 inches in height and 36.5 inches in length, this painting is an original painting signed by its artist. The back,as pictured, needs a simple repapering. The painting is framed with heavy solid wood boards and under glass with an elevated bevelled mat and features a mixed media production technique with encaustics. The black outlines framing individual items portrayed and the black frame painted around the scene is heave impasto and possibly beeswax encaustic. The subject matter is centered around the theme of doves as birds of peace, and the fidelity of the pair making a peaceful, happy union. As such, this would make an ideal wedding or anniversary gift.
