Description: This Seth Thomas Ships clock has a 6” dial (5.5 inch visual) and is 7.75 inches diameter overall. It has a hinged heavy brass door in working order and a silvered dial with sunken black shellacked numerals that is in most excellent original condition. The brass case has been properly cleaned and polished and has retained it's beautiful original lacquered finish and overall has few blemishes and presents beautifully ! Please see all of my pictures. It has the original 7 jewel 115A movement in it and strikes the four-hour watch every half hour. The strike sequence is based on "watches" onboard ship of 4 hours each. A new watch starts at noon, 4 p.m., 8 p.m., midnight, 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. The end of a "watch" and start of a new watch is marked by the bell being struck 8 times on it's coiled steel bell. It has the standard back door plate that can be removed to adjust the strike. The original "ST #115 A" movement is stamped "patented 1921" and has been completely disassembled, all parts cleaned ultrasonically and by hand all wheels checked for trueness and the pivots polished on the lathe. A broken wheel pivot was properly repaired. 4 brass bushings were installed. The mainsprings were removed from their barrels and properly cleaned and greased. The platform escapement was properly cleaned. The movement then reassembled properly oiled and adjusted and this clock has been running for several weeks and keeps very good time and strikes the watch as it should. the fast/slow lever is in the dead center position. This classic Seth Thomas Ships Bell Clock needs to be wound weekly on both sides with the included key. This would be packed with great care and shipped via UPS ground. I also make myself available for any help needed with setup and ongoing care.
