Description: Hey ebayers, Up for sale is a lightly worn, recently serviced, near mint NOS Seiko 7549-7009 ‘Golden Tuna,’ that I cannot stress enough is in immaculate condition. Which is why it’s for sale. This had been my white (golden?) whale for some time. Having finally found a mint example, having it completely serviced and set to superb accuracy, I find myself uncomfortable wearing it. It’s been worn for a little less than a month to and from my office since receiving it back from servicing. For whatever reason I cannot bring myself to enjoying this as I should. That’s where you come in: this watch comes with all original materials I received to include an original rubber strap and spring bars, a “passed” inspection sticker (on case back), hang tag, manual/instructions, case, as well as outer box. The only new addition is the modern, Seiko DAL1BP that’s attached with the original titanium buckle alongside it. I normally like to discuss the watch a little, but odds are likely that you know the ‘Golden Tuna’ well enough if you’re viewing this listing. Whether off the wrist of Roger Moore from For Your Eyes Only, from a variety of online retrospective reviews (likely voicing complaints about the scale), or from other Seiko collectors. Still, let me provide at least a few details: scale is 49mm x 16.3mm, w/22mm lug width, the case and shroud have a gold nitride coating treatment (to include the screws securing the shroud), yes this is a monocoque case but luckily for you it has a fresh battery as of a month ago (to writing this piece), and features a 120 click, bi-directional(!) bezel. In case you’re wondering, yes the 7549 movement features a quickset day/date and hacking, so all the modern creature comforts you’d expect. These North American models (7009) feature a dual-date wheel, here in Spanish/English. You will not find a better example of this Seiko 7549-7009: from the bezel insert, to gold nitride luster, to bezel/crown action, original crystal condition, lume integrity/color tone, … You get it. It’s in good shape. However, here’s what I notice: repairman left a mark from removing the OG strap (interior of bottom left lug when looking at watch dead on), the handset does feature some corrosion from the passage of time, and the watch battery change indicator has a little ping from a very early replacement (case back). I adore this timepiece. It deserves to either: 1. Be in a museum, or 2. Be worn with reckless abandon. I don’t curate any museums and I’m mentally incapable of the latter, so I leave it to you. Feel free to reach out if there are any questions concerning the watch and please ask before making the buy. On a side note, if you have any fun Seiko stories you’d like to share, send those my way too… As a long time collector of both Seiko and Grand Seiko, I really want this to go to the right person. In any case, be well and happy ebaying. PS - I have a 7.25” wrist (see images). Oh! Be sure to check my other listings… I often rotate and sell pieces, so save me(?) if you like vintage/modern Seiko
