Description: Up for sale is a stunning example of a German bisque Dolly face doll that would be a wonderful addition to any collection! She stands about 24 inches tall. The number "62" on her is not a mold number, but rather denotes her size (62 centimeters, which equals about roughly 24.4 inches). Condition: The bisque porcelain head is in absolutely perfect condition. The fully jointed composition body has a few issues, however. Her joints are just a teensy bit on the "saggy" side and could possibly use a little tightening (I don't know how to do that, or I would). Her right arm has a chip off the composition where you can see the wood below. There is some paint wear on one of her legs. Also, there is some paint fading in a few places (which is to be expected with a doll of 100+ years of age). Please refer to photos for more information about the doll's condition. Her wig is original, long human hair in a strawberry blonde. The wig is not currently glued down, which honestly made it much easier for me to photograph the maker's mark on her neck. It could easily be re-glued at your discretion (when placed on her head, it stays there just fine for display). Her chubby cheeks are so adorable and she looks so playful and impish. Her hand painted face is so elegant and her open-mouthed smile is enchanting, showing off her pearly-white teeth. She has soft blue, blown glass eyes that sparkle in the light. I believe her clothing is all 100% original. The fabric of her delicate cream-colored, lacy dress is getting very thin, as is her other clothing -- especially her undergarments. Her slip has actually deteriorated to the point that it's falling apart. Her shoes are in very nice shape, though, as you can see from the pictures. Her ears are pierced, and I'm guessing she probably had earrings at some point (but they're missing now). About the Kämmer & Reinhardt doll company: It was formed in 1886 in Waltershausen, Thüringia, Germany by Ernst Kämmer and Franz Reinhardt. They designed their own doll heads and bodies, but some of the doll heads they used were then manufactured by the Simon & Halbig company (which is why this doll's head bears both company's maker's marks). From 1886 to 1909 K & R made only dolly faced dolls with a bisque head on a composition ball jointed body, many with an open mouth and teeth. In 1902 K & R purchased the Heinrich Handwerck doll company and about 1920 they acquired the Simon & Halbig company as well. I only ship to North America.
