Description: Antique Royal Worcester Hand Painted "Plant Center" Decorative Plate 9" dia, c. 1871-1875. Round smooth edge shape. Beautifully painted center floral bouquet in color enamels. Geometric rim border of relief white & coral pink crown shapes joined by blue lining on azure blue ground edge with relief gilt dot borders. Gilt line & demi-lune edge border. Impressed crown & circle mark with large capital letters "WORCESTER" below. This is a rare mark found only impressed from 1862 to 1875 Sandon mark #4 shown on p.250 of Henry Sandon's Royal Worcester Porcelain from 1862 to the Present Day, (1975), used "...from 1862 to 1875". There is an impressed A clay mark corresponding to 1867. By hand red pattern number "9306" which is "Plant Center" dessert service painted by G. Hundley. (See Sandon p.130. Definitely after 1871 & before 1875, probably 1872 or 1873. A bit of wear to the outer edge gilt & some light scratches of little significance.
