Description: ROYAL DOULTON HAPPY JOHN TOBY JUG - EXCELLENT CONDITION Designed by harry Fenton and issued from 1939-1991. In excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or flaws. Solid black handle in the back, great colors and details - especially Happy John’s smiling face. Beautiful glaze. Approximately 9” tall and 6” wide with handle. Toby jugs are character jugs, often depicting real/historical figures. Many are holding a tankard of ale. From a design originating in the 1700’s and a product of Royal Doulton~England.
