Description: For your consideration, I am offering this rare, vintage, first quality, year 1945 Faun (Troll or Pan) figurine wrestling and rough housing with a bear in hand-painted porcelain material manufactured by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory, made in Denmark and titled "FAUN PULLING BEAR'S EAR" - Model No. 1804 - and designed by the Danish sculptor Knud Kyhn...Large in size, wonderfully decorated in assorted shades in brown - the cute faun is on sitting on top of the bear's back, grabbing the open mouth bear by its left ear with both hands...Stamped on bottom in the underglaze green backstamp mark with blue waves - the royal crown surrounded with Royal, Copenhagen and Denmark underneath with Model No. 1804..the dot mark above the "H" in Copenhagen represents the year 1945... lower capped initials dpx...This figurine measures approximately 7.5 inches (19 cm) tall at highest point...Light signs of previous ownership needs to be taken into consideration..First Quality - Free of chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations...Was stored in curio cabinet by the original owner...A cute addition to add to your "Faun" collection!!!Pictures were taken outdoors to show the true glossy shine and the faces on the young faun and the open mouth bear.. . Just a wonderful, vintage figurine...If more angles are needed or any questions, email me!!Info on the Danish Sculptor Knud Kyhn (1880 to 1969):painter and sculptor, Worked at Royal Copenhagen Factory most of his working life in periods: 1903-1908; 1923-1932 and free lance more and less from 1936- 1968. In between he worked at Herman A Kahler, Naestved 1918-1924 and Bing & Grondahl 1910-1914 and 1933-1935. Together with his wife he had a small ceramic workshop in Farum, where he created and sold art pottery in his own name....His main focus was on animal figurines in stoneware and the sung glaze and later the brown “Bear” glaze became one of the largest successes of Royal Copenhagen in the area of figurines. These small and big brown bears were so popular...In 1908 he joined Christian Thomsen and others in producing several rare and wanted faun figurines and a few other mythological figurines like mermaid and sea boys...
