After an initial firing, these wares were tinted, hand-finished, and refired several times in specially designed kilns to create an indelible glaze….. In 1904, Taft’s brother-in-law, Cadman Robertson, joined the business and became the driving force and supervisor of the company’s overall production. He was responsible for the development of more than 900 glazes, including Hampshire’s matte glazes, and original designs. During this period, Hampshire Pottery produced a variety of bowls, vases, lamps, candleholders and dozens of other items in attractive brown, red, blue and green glazes.” -The Keene Sentinel.
