Description: Signature confirmation required for delivery. Original 1909 official document signed by then President Theodore Roosevelt, as well as Victor H. Metcalf, then Secretary of the Navy. The occasion was the appointment of one Frederick W. Smith to Assistant Surgeon in the US Navy. Relatively recently professionally matted and framed with plexiglass. Exact dimensions of the document are not clear since we did not acquire it prior to its framing, but the frame dims are 27.5" x 24" and the visible area of the document is 19" x 15.5". Document shows moderate foxing and creasing, and a tear of at least 1.25" to upper edge. Frame itself has some light chipping and rubbing to paint. Ready to hang. Sold as is.
