Description: Authentic Pennsylvania Railroad Company cancelled stock certificate for 100 shares issued in the 1950's and 1960's. This is a real certificate, not a copy or reproduction. The certificate has a beautiful vignette of the famous horseshoe curve in Altoona, PA in the center with allegorical figures on either side. The horseshoe curve's importance to railroad traffic in the U.S. was such that the Nazi's attempted to sabotage it in Operation Pastorius during World War II. The curve was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966. Certificate would make a fine addition to your collection or a great gift. Stock certificate collecting is becoming increasingly popular due to the historical significance of many of the companies and their increasing rarity. With the advent of electronic trading the issuance of stock certificates has decreased markedly and accordingly should improve the value of these certificates over time. Nice looking certificate and is a great conversation piece of a famous company that eventually evolved into Penn Central, which prior to current events was one of the largest corporate bankruptcies. The certificate is in excellent condition (no folds, tears or marks). Each certificate has the normal punch cancellation and staple holes. Please review my feedback record and bid with confidence.
