Description: Offered is a decorative (but fairly hefty) katana I acquired in a bunch o' swords purchase, wanting donor blades for my own builds. I am not expertly familiar with Japanese blades, and don't feel I could make something nice enough, from this, to justify tearing it apart when the only thing wrong with it, is that it isn't my style. I hope someone else will want to have it. The haft (different term in Japanese, maybe?) is a solid single piece of what feels to be molded ABS plastic, with a lot of actually very sharp detailing, obviously a dragon, 13" long. I have no idea what sort of tang is hidden within, but the sword has absolutely no sense of wobble, rattle, or that general swing-it-hard-it-will-come-apart feel. The blade is 28 3/4" x 1" x 5/16", with a distinct but not overdone curve. Deeply stamped as being 440 stainless, it's not a quality piece of work, but details like the (most likely artificial) hamon are nt badfly done at all. The tsuba (handguard) is metal, probably brass-plated zinc, and, again, has a solid feel to it. Low-cost components don't preclude nice work! The sheath is a hollow tube of metal, reddish-orange and scuffed-up pretty well, with an ornamental mouth and tip that match the handguard of the sword. It had an orange-and-black wrapping up toward the hilt end that I learned (after idiotically removing it, not having the slightest clue how to re-wrap and tie it) was for attachment to ties off a belt or sash; though it's not pictured, I'm including it with the sword, in the event the new owner knows how and wants to properly re-use it.
