Description: If you are lucky enough to have been to Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, then you are lucky that you found this listing. Aside from fine-dining, great beaches, beautiful sunsets and endless miles of bike trails, there is a closely held Nantucket secret. Walk many of the beaches, especially those that bordered the old railroad, with a keen eye and you will find "Nantucket Sea Glass". Nantucket sea glass is a term the locals use to describe the antique pottery shards that appear on the sandy beaches after a storm. Small shards of old plates and mugs, crackled with time, speckled with barnacles sometimes. Every now and then you get lucky and find one with writing, or a blue pattern, or the coveted red pattern! Each piece was plucked from the sandy shores of Nantucket Island and arranged carefully in a mosaic pattern on a vintage pewter plate. The plate can be displayed on your wall, on a book shelf using a picture easel, or flat on your coffee table. It is an excellent souvenir to remind you of the beauty and hidden treasures of Nantucket Island for yourself, or if you are generous, it is a wonderful house warming or hostess present for your loved ones on Nantucket Island. And next time you are in Nantucket, try to pull your eyes, for a moment, away from the sunset and aim them a bit lower. Perhaps you will find some Nantucket Sea Glass of your own! 10 3/8 " diameter, and just under 2 lbs. Please specify which plate you want (a or b).
