The bottom is open so you can see where you are punching. Besides being one of the basic shapes in punch art hearts are perfect for Valentines Day, Wedding, I Love You, and Missing you, just to mention a few. The hearts on this particular punch are just a tad smaller than the small single heart shape found elsewhere in the store.
