Description: Rare Maitland Smith lamp with a cast bronze giraffe sitting on bronze base plate embossed with a giraffe spot pattern. Bronze giraffe is solid with natural and faux patina. The bronze casting does have a few small holes on the giraffe body, which is typical for these lamps. The lamp comes with a stitched faux leather lamp shape with a gold and black giraffe pattern on the inside. The carved wood base is supported by solid brass lion paws and is topped with a bronze base plate embossed with a giraffe spot pattern. The giraffe's hooves raise slightly off the bronze base plate. It looks like one of the hooves was originally pinned down with a brass nail, but it has lifted up, the thickness of a penny. I would not advise that the hooves get pinned down because it would put stress on the giraffe's legs and it cannot be seen unless you are eye level to the lamp base and 6 inches away. The lamp has been tested and works. The lamp will be packed, in order to properly protect the many delicate bronze branches and leaves.
