Description: Wonderful piece today based on the original Louise Cox 1897 painting entitled "The Lovers", which was inspired by the Austin Dobson poem "A Song of Angiola, in Heaven". This 14cm x 23cm photogravure on heavy card stock was created in 1898 as a Copley Print by Benjamin Franklin Curtis under his trade name Curtis & Cameron. He took that name to separate himself and his work from the numerous other Curtis Co. Entities of the day. This photogravure was also used in the 1898 first edition of the historically significant book by Mary Knight entitled Love In Art. The photogravure remains in what I am sure to be it's original solid wood frame and 3 layers of backing. Very nice piece both artistically and historically. As always, free shipping, a charity donation and the Best offer format for all fair considerations.
