Leaves of Grass (1940; Walt Whitman) Doubleday, Doran & Co., Woven Cloth Binding

Description: This large, heavy book is covered in burlap! The greenish blue cloth is gold colored from sun exposure from the spine around to about a third of the front and back cover, making an attractive pattern. The spine with its paste down title slightly faded but intact. Internally it is in wonderful condition with lots of spectacular color and black and white illustrations . Great book. There is a musty antique smell. On the inside front cover, upper left hand corner there is a very small name inscribed. Some evidence of antiquing/foxing can be seen on the interior cover both front and rear. Both the interior and exterior are faded and worn; from antiquing, use through the years, and chemical oxygenation process.
