Description: PIONEERS - LETTS AND BANNING NARRATIVES 1825-1865by Noah Harris Letts and Thomas Allen BanningEdited by Paul M AngleHardback Book - 290 PagesPublished by The Lakeside Press as part of the Lakeside Classics Series - Christmas 1972Lakeside Press was part of R.R. Donnelley & Sons CompanyAbout Lakeside Press Classics:In 1903 Thomas Donnelley, President of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, was looking for an appropriate Christmas remembrance to give to employees and friends. He wanted something simple, dignified and representative of the company. He decided on an annual book relating to historical subjects. The first Lakeside Classics book, "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin" was distributed that year. Each book was beautifully bound in cloth and gold-embossed. The books were never sold - only given as gifts. Since the books were not sold and are out of print they are highly collectible. Condition:This copy is in good condition. The binding is tight - no loose pages. Pages are crisp and clean with no tears, markings, highlighting or stains. The only reason it is not rated as very good is staining on cover - possibly from improper storage. There is no mold, mildew or odor. There may be a slight lean to the spine - also due to storage - see pictures for details. This is a unique and special copy of a classic book that would be a valuable addition to any library. About the Book:This book is a collection of two important narratives of the American frontier. The first narrative is by Noah Harris Letts, who traveled from Ohio to California in 1849. The second narrative is by Thomas Allen Banning, who traveled from Illinois to Oregon in 1843.Both narratives provide a vivid and detailed account of the hardships and challenges of life on the frontier. They also offer insights into the hopes and dreams of the pioneers who made the journey west. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in American history, the American frontier, or the lives of the pioneers.___________________I ship daily Monday-Friday from a smoke-free home in Texas.
