Description: AN EIGHTEENTH CENTURY EXAMPLE OF THE BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY IN ITS ROLE AS PATRON, PROMOTER, AND FUNDRAISER FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEDGED AND THE DESERVING KING GEORGE III SIGNED 1789 ROYAL BOUNTY WARRANT, “George R”, 8 x 12.5, November 12, 1789, “pay unto our Trusty and Welbeloved Lieut. Colonel William Morris the Sum of One Hundred pounds without deduction …We are graciously pleased to allow him as of Our Royal Bounty in consideration of his long, faithful & useful Services in Our Army.…shall be your Warrant & Discharge…Given at Our Court at St. James’s… in the Thirtieth Year of Our Reign.” The Warrant is being sent to Constantine Lord Mulgrave, English explorer and Royal Navy Officer who served during the American War of Independence and the Marquis of Graham, the Scottish nobleman and statesman. At the time of this Warrant they were serving as Joint Paymaster General of Guards, Garrison & Land Forces. This very interesting historical document is in fine condition, with the usual fold lines and age toning. GEORGE III OF THE UNITED KINGDOM (1738-1820) His long reign as King was an outstanding period of English history, of great battles in America, India and Europe but ultimately led to the loss of many of their colonies in the American Revolutionary War.
