Front coupler is missing the knuckle portion of the coupler. Kato does offer couplers for this type of locomotive. I purchased this locomotive "Used/Pre-owned" for a project that didn't happen. Locomotive runs good. As with all used/pre-owned locomotives, I recommend cleaning the wheels and a light gear lube on the gears.
