During the previous decades the City of Angels grew and prospered well from the commerce created by the mining interests centered in and around Owens Valley and the upper Mojave Desert. A fine selection of photographs and illustrations highlight this history of the railroad and the communities and businesses along the Jawbone route, including service to the Naval Ordnance Test Station at China Lake, the valuable interchange with the Trona Railway at Searles, and a glimpse of the Slim Princess, the beloved narrow gauge railroad between Laws and Keeler, California.
