Gas atoms fly around more quickly than solid atoms. They’re also much smaller (< 0.001 microns on average). You need a filter material with a huge surface area, efficiently packed into a microscopic space, to remove these kinds of pollutants by getting them stuck to the surface of the filter media. Enter activated carbon – the V5-Cell filter contains thousands of tiny cracks and micropores to attract and trap gas molecules. Adsorption happens when pollutants become physically bound to carbon.
