Description: This is an incredible large size Sorrento Ware box. The intricate and detailed inlaid patterns are deployed on all the sides and top of the box. Amazing craftsmanship, this was produced in Sorrento, Italy during the Victorian era (likely 1880s). Someone traveling on a Grand Tour likely purchased it as a souvenir. Age-related surface wear, attractive colors. Clean interior. There has been some separation of the wood panels on the bottom, top and left side. Please review photos. Measures 8 inches square and 2.5 inches high. Fantastic quality that would have taken many hours to produce. Great display piece for a table or shelf. Check out our other antique listings.
