Review Ingenious * Mail on Sunday *Breathtakingly inventiveThe greatest Italian writer of the twentieth century * Guardian *Reading Calvino, youre constantly assailed by the notion that he is writing down what you have always known, except that youve never thought of it before. This is highly unnerving: fortunately youre usually too busy laughing to go mad... I can think of no finer writer to have beside me while Italy explodes, Britain burns, while the world endsA devastating, wonderfully ingenious parody of all those dreary best-sellers you buy at the airport... It is a "world novel": take it with you next time you plan to travel in an armchair * Observer * Promotional A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say - Italo Calvino Review Text "Ingenious" Promotional "Headline" A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say - Italo Calvino Details ISBN0099430894 Author William Weaver Pages 272 Series Vintage classics ISBN-10 0099430894 ISBN-13 9780099430896 Format Paperback Place of Publication London Country of Publication United Kingdom Translated from Italian DEWEY 853.914 Birth 1923 Death 1985 Media Book Tag vintageclassics Short Title IF ON A WINTERS NIGHT A TRAVEL Audience Age 19-19 Language English Residence CU Publisher Vintage Publishing Year 1992 Imprint Vintage Classics Publication Date 1992-02-20 UK Release Date 1992-02-20 AU Release Date 1992-02-20 NZ Release Date 1992-02-20 Translator William Weaver Narrator Llewella Gideon Affiliation Birkbeck College, University of London Position Author Qualifications QC Audience General Alternative 9781446414330 We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
