Description: Fabulous estate sale find in this rare pair of vintage 1956 ESCO Products, deco face or theater vibe chalkware wall mount plaques! These 3D figural silhouette faces posing with a single hand and fun headpieces are stunners in hand painted glossy black finish with gold highlight details. The pair is weighted (9lbs combined) and sturdy, the pair is 17" tall each and will make quite the statement in any modern home. Bursting with style, each plaque is complete with a metal hook (one with a wire too) on back for instant decorating! ESCO Products, Inc. produced a variety of chalkware figures, the most collected being those of famous movie, music, and television personalities from the mid 1950's to the 1990's. Having found many different artists listed in the copyrights on the bottom of ESCO Product, Inc., figures, it appears Vilis Berzins was one of several designers used by the company. ESCO stands for Entertainment Statue Company, a later incarnation of ESCO Products, Inc. Although speculation is that the company started in the late 1940's, ESCO’s location is subject to debate. Most surmise it was based in New Jersey, while it's been claimed on an internet forum that the company was located at 59th Street in Brooklyn’s Borough Park. Set is in great vintage condition! The usual pre-loved dings & pings to edges, corners and surface scuffs here and there from years of helping Madge keep her rumpus room decor booming, but does nothing that distracts from this amazing set of chalkware history!
