Description: GB007 Rare 1846 Great Britain 1 Cent Copper PCGS Proof 63 RB. Peck-2086 (Very Rare). Perfectly struck with bold reflectivity in the fields and an infusion of intense magenta, violet and blue tone that mixes with original pinkish red color on both sides. VERY RARE as a type and highly collectible due to its unusual decimal-style denomination. PCGS only graded this one. Produced by silversmiths Marrian & Gausby of Birmingham, this type signified the first attempt in Britain to introduce a decimal currency system. In total, 5 denominations were produced, which include: 10, 5, 2 and 1 Cent pieces as well as a 1 Centum denomination. In theory, the aim was to make 1,000 cents equal to £1. While a simple enough concept, it would not take hold in any form until 1971, exactly 125 years later, when Britain finally "went decimal". SHIPPING for US will be free priority mail with signature confirmation. International shipping will use eBay international shipping program. Any questions please contact me. No Return for any graded coin.
