Description: Everedy Kake-Saver Lid w/ Kromex Tray Vintage 50s/60s Not Original Tray: Tray:Length: 12-3/4"Width: 15" including handlesHeight: 1/2"Lid:Diameter: 11-1/4" at bottom, 10-3/4" at topHeight: 5-3/4" including handleTogether: Weight: 3 lbHeight: 6-1/4" Details:This is not the original tray, which would probably have been glass. This is how it was when I bought it and I think they look lovely together. The Kromex tray and Everedy lid are from the same era (1950s to 1960s) so someone may have switched it out then; I have no way of knowing. This Everedy Kake-Saver is in great condition for its vintage age. The chrome itself is shiny and beautiful. There are no dents, and it is quite heavy for holloware. There are some scratches and a few pits around the lid handle. The screw holding the handle in place has some rust, but it is a tight and strong bond. It could be replaced if it bothers you. The Kromex tray has a beautiful chrome finish and is also shiny. There are a lot of scratches on it I believe from cutting cake on it as Kromex does scratch easily. There are also scratches on the bottom, but again, the chrome itself is in great shape without dings or dents. The handles have a gold tone finish. The lid and tray can be used just by themselves, the lid with a different cake plate and the tray for serving whatever you desire. A Little History: The Everedy Company was incorporated in Frederick, MD in 1923 during the height of the prohibition era. The operation began with the production of bottle cappers for root beer, but many were bought by home brewers and distillers during prohibition, and later would be known for its stainless steel pots and pans and innovative kitchen wares such as the Kake Saver. Kromex was first produced by Alcoa Aluminum Company around 1957. Kromex specialized in kitchenware and serveware. Despite being very popular, Kromex was only offered for a short period of time. Kromex products were known for having clean lines, sleek features, and durability. Kromex was phased out during the early 1960s after Alcoa was bought by Reynold’s Aluminum.
