Description: Six (6) scarce early original vintage Carte de Visite (CDV) portraits of unidentified politicians or theatrical stage actors from the latter half of the 19th century. These all came with a collection of CDV’s taken during or after Lincoln’s presidency and were taken by prominent photographers of the era. They are all vintage photographs and not copies or reproductions. All have photographer back marks including BLACK (Boston) - BLACK & CASE (Boston) - BOGARTIS (New York) - ELLIOTT & FRY (London) - J.J. HAWES (Boston) - and WARREN’S (Boston) (see scan). CDV’s measure 2 1/2 x 4 inches and are in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and are very sharp and have strong tones with good contrast and clarity.
