Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-CA X-NONE X-NONE This is a mantel clock made c 1905 for the high-end jewellery store, T.J. Perry of London, by Duverdrey and Bloquel of Dieppe. T.J Perry Silversmiths, of Regent Street, was founded in 1880 and it originally made its own jewellery. But, by 1900, it was strictly a seller of pieces made by other companies--it had its name put on everything. T.J. Perry operated at 224 Regent Street, in the Liberty complex. In 1930, it published a book about itself and its work. The following year, in July 1931, the London Gazette announced T&J Perry’s dissolution. Duverdrey and Bloquel was founded in 1867. It made clocks for reseller clients—jewellery stores and department stores. It eventually became a large company, with three factories. The UK was its largest market. In 1928, it began using the name Bayard. Duverdrey and Bloquel's mark was the lion passant (see photo). Up until World War I, the company's name was not consistently stamped with its mark--the mark was often alone, or sometimes with the letters 'DB'. After the war, the full company name was always with the mark. The mark is alone on this clock, dating it before 1914; its style dates it before 1910 and after 1900. It is mahogany with fruitwood inlay on the face, two 3 1/2" brass columns and 1/2" brass feet. The face is white enamel with a brass surround. Including the feet, it is 10" wide, 3 1/8" deep and 5 3/4" high.Weight is 4 lbs. The photos here show all wear to the case. The photos show the works, and the key. This clock has been in constant use for about 15 years. At the time of its purchase, it was fully serviced by the Canadian clock expert Dennis Radage. It has needed no attention since.
