Description: Item under consideration is an original, frame and matted, ENAMEL-ON-COPPER, EVENING STREET SCENE PAINTING by world renowned artist Dominic Mingolla. DOMINIC MINGOLLA signature is on lower right of painting, reading ‘MINGOLLA’. Subject is a typical evening street scene with the forefront containing a woman and man with a cane walking on the lite sidewalk with typical lighted buildings with in the background. Antique gold wooden frame, measuring 17 3/4 “ x 14 1/2” with a 11 1/2" x 8 1/2” image. Professionally framed. Image not examined out of frame. Creation of Enamels:Thin coats of finely powdered colored glass are hand-applied to the copper, then fused to the metal in 1,500 degree heat. Each image is carefully painted and fired at least 5 separate times, to enable it to glow with crystalline translucence and depth. Seemingly delicate, this created timeless beauty and color will not fade or dim and is virtually indestructible. Artist Dominic Mingolla (1922-1999):World renown American artist Dominic Mingolla created paintings in many different materials and genres. Best known for his large abstract expressionist water colors similar in style to Paul Jenkins and for his Enamel work. Dominic John Mingolla actually “paints” on sheets of copper, sprinkling colored glass powder onto the sheet, refining its form and then firing each layer in a kiln. Not bound strictly to art enameling, Mingolla paints in virtually all forms.
