This tank has never been installed on a motorcyle, and the mounting tabs are undrilled. It's a modified 2.5 gallon Harley-Davidson Sportster "Sporty" tank (Frisco-mount) that is a common choice for many custom chopper/bobber builds. These core tanks (uncut) are distributed by V-Twin Manufacturing (part# 38-0066). The tank pictured is still unpainted, bare raw-metal with a brushed Scotchbrite & WD-40 finish. Gas cap and bottom NPT-threaded brass plugs (for petcock locations) included. These "see-through" tank windows are NOT GLASS. This clear material is an exclusive, proprietary formula (patent pending) that has been custom manufactured for this specific purpose. It's also practically shatterproof (unlike glass) and remains clear when exposed to gasoline (unlike acrylic or polycarbonate). Yes, it's expensive because it's custom manufactured and not yet mass produced for the retail market. NOTE: Use only mild hand dishwashing soap, warm water, and a clean sponge to clean windows. NEVER USE WINDEX or any chemical cleaner. This tank has been tested and does not leak, but if you choose to use an aftermarket tank sealant, obviously this step must be done without the windows installed. The clear windows cannot come in contact with any liquid sealant. If you choose to paint or podwercoat the tank, the window assemblies must be removed for this process. The windows cannot be exposed to powdercoat baking heat temperatures, and the exterior cap nuts & washers would be far too tedious to mask for any painting stages required. Replacement window panels are available if you ever damage them ($100 each). It will be shipped double-boxed for secure protection. The tank will be shipped empty with the windows installed.
