Description: Charles Lynn ("Chick") Bragg, born 1952, is the highly talented artist son of famous artists Charles Bragg and Jennie Tomao. This is a large 1988 work on paper, soft pencil or perhaps charcoal, with delicate strategically placed hints of subtle color in the green of the eyes and in the fur. Measurements are 21 1/2" by 29 1/2" inside the mat, 30" by 39" framed. I contacted the artist, who confirmed that this is his work, and not that of his father, that the subject is a fox and not a coyote, and that he created it while living in West Los Angeles. See the attractive and highly interesting website of the artist, which illustrates his many styles and subjects over the years. Earlier works often feature brilliantly colored works with animals of all kinds as the subjects, approached in an almost reverential style which belies the (vegetarian) artist's longstanding concern with the state of our delicate, beautiful, threatened Earth, and the creatures that inhabit it. As a youth, Chick and his sibling traveled with their parents, and they were exposed to art and history while in Europe. Subsequent to that he traveled extensively to exotic, remote corners of the globe, exploring our Earth and taking photos that he would use to help create his paintings. In his mid fifties, Bragg earned a bachelor of fine arts in sculpture. Many drawings feature the (female) human form, and portraits. His works have been particularly well received in Japan. This drawing is in excellent condition. Signed lower right "BRAGG" and dated '88. Do see the website. **Allow for reflections in some images.
