Rear plate There is an original DMV issued 1973 sticker in its proper position. The scuff mark along the bottom is the only evidence of usage. California YOM programThey can be used to register a passenger vehicle model years 1970 thru 1980 in the state of California under the YOM program. A 1973 model year car can use them as is. All passenger cars 1970 thru 1980 model year must have the vehicle's proper model year sticker, available on other ebay sites. I have not heard of anyone having a problem with the DMV and reproduction stickers, as long as they have the right color and design. You can see the DMV paperwork by going to dmv.ca.gov and search for YOM, look for the PDF file for the form. The form lists the requirements for plates to qualify. Note that although the program is called "Year of Manufacture" (YOM), the required license sticker must match the MODEL year of the vehicle to be registered. 1970 through 1980 auto plates must be in the series 000AAA through 999ZZZ with exceptions as shown in next-to-last picture. The DMV will issue the proper current month and year stickers when registering. They will also include license toppers to display the current month and year registration stickers as shown in the last picture, if you do not want to display the current stickers on the plate itself.
