Description: Hello, What I am listing Is a color portrait autographed photo of Ray Gallagher, Asst. Flight Engineer on board "The Great Artiste" on Aug. 6th, 1945, and "Bockscar" the B 29 that carried the "Fatman" plutonium bomb, ending at the secondary target of Nagasaki, Aug.9,1945. This Is an 8 x 10 photograph chemically reproduced from an original negative, and hand signed on this photograph by Ray Gallagher. The autograph is actual real not a scan, copy, forgery or reproduction of any type and will pass a DNA test if you want that done. Ray and I became close friends. After first contacting Bob Caron (Enola Gay, Tail gunner) Bob gave me Ray's address In Chicago, this was late 1980's, I then met Ray at the 1990 Wendover 509th Reunion. We corresponded a lot, I visited him several times and he agreed to do a few book and photo signings with us. The photo you see with Fred Olivi on the left and Ray on the right was taken at an autograph show In Chicago. Ray was now on oxygen and was reluctant to do the appearance. This was the last one we did with him. I'm holding the envelope behind them, my Mother In Law Is to my left (a very nice lady) Fred and Carole Olivi enjoyed having her with us. Unlike other e-bay listing of Ray, this photograph does not have printing dots and was not copied from our book. Ray signed only 4 for me at a show. Ray owned the original of this photograph. Note that Ray is wearing glasses. Men on flight crews were to have perfect eyesight, Paul Tibbets gave Ray and Abe Spitzer permission to fly with eyeglasses. Ray thought enough of me to give me these eyeglasses. I had a few extras of this photo made and gave them to Ray to give to family and friends. This was a difficult autographed photo to obtain. The first one that i have ever offered. There has been a strip of paper placed over the photo to prevent copying. For provenance about me and who I take to shows as well as more Information about the 2nd Atomic Mission please see my site. The original target for the second Atomic Bomb was Kokura, but because of cloud cover and dwindling fuel supply the decision was made to go to Nagasaki. Ray advised Major Sweeney that the Nagasaki Cloud was coming up fast and would envelope them Please keep in mind you are purchasing from a documented 509th Historian, attended all Reunions since and Including 1990, I am currently Reunion Chairman, Newsletter editor and have been Reunion Chairman for the 509th 2001-2006, 2008-17. I was elected an Honorary Member In 2001. Please see our website for appearances. Thank you!!!!!
